Return and Refund Policy

At WeBuyPhones, we strive to provide our customers with the best possible service and experience. Our return and refund policy is designed to comply with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa while ensuring fair treatment for all our customers. Please review our policy below:

1. Eligibility for Returns:

Standard Returns (Non-Defective Devices)

  • Devices must be returned within 7 days of receipt.
  • The device must be in the same condition as when it was sent to us, including all original accessories and packaging.
  • The device must not have any physical damage, water damage, or signs of tampering.

Returns for Defective Devices

  • If your device is defective, you have the right to return, replace, or repair within 6 months of purchase, as per the CPA.
  • Defective devices will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

2. Return Process:

  • To initiate a return, please contact our customer support team at support@webuyphones.co.za or call us at +27 62 002 5528.
  • Our customer support team will guide you through the return process and provide you with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number.
  • For non-defective returns, the customer is responsible for shipping the device back to us. We recommend using a traceable shipping method and securing the package adequately.
  • For defective devices, we will arrange collection at our expense.
  • The return shipping address will be provided to you along with the RMA number.

3. Refund Process:

  • Once we receive the returned device, our team will inspect it to ensure it meets the eligibility criteria stated above.
  • If the device passes our inspection, we will initiate the refund process within 5 business days.
  • Refunds will be processed within 15 business days, as per CPA requirements.
  • Refunds will be issued using the same payment method used for the original transaction.

Restocking Fee

  • A 10% restocking fee may be applied to non-defective returns to cover the costs of inspection and repackaging.
  • No restocking fee will be applied to returns of defective devices or in cases where the product doesn't match the description provided at the time of sale.

Shipping Fees

  • For non-defective returns, the original shipping fees are non-refundable.
  • For defective devices or cases where the product doesn't match the description, we will refund the original shipping fees.

4. Ineligible Returns:

  • Devices that do not meet the eligibility criteria for returns will not be accepted.
  • If a device is returned to us in a condition that does not meet our eligibility criteria, we will notify the customer and provide the option to have the device shipped back to them at their expense.

5. Customer's Responsibility:

  • For non-defective returns, the customer is responsible for the return shipping costs.
  • It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the device is adequately packaged to prevent damage during transit.
  • WeBuyPhones is not responsible for any devices lost or damaged during the return shipping process for non-defective returns.

6. Exceptions and Special Circumstances:

  • This return and refund policy does not apply to devices that were clearly identified and sold as non-returnable or "as is" at the time of purchase.
  • For items purchased through direct marketing channels, customers have the right to return the item within 5 business days, as per the CPA.

7. Defective Goods:

As per the CPA, if a device proves to be defective or unsuitable for its intended purpose within 6 months of delivery, you may choose to:

  1. Return the device for a full refund
  2. Have the device replaced
  3. Have the device repaired

In such cases, WeBuyPhones will bear the costs of assessing the device and all related shipping costs.

8. Returns for Sale Items:

  • Our standard 6-month right to return, replace, or repair applies to all items, including those purchased on sale, if they are defective, not fit for purpose, or not as described.
  • Our 7-day return policy for non-defective items applies to regular-priced and sale items alike, unless explicitly stated otherwise at the time of purchase.
  • For certain promotional sales, we may exclude non-defective sale items from our voluntary 7-day return policy. This will be clearly communicated during the sale.
  • The 5-day cooling-off period for items purchased through direct marketing applies to both regular-priced and sale items.
