Return and Refund Policy

At WeBuyPhones, we strive to provide our customers with the best possible service and experience. Our return and refund policy is designed to comply with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa while ensuring fair treatment for all our customers.

1. Eligibility for Returns

Standard Returns (Non-Defective Devices)

  • Devices must be returned within 7 days of receipt.
  • The device must be in the same condition as when it was sent to us, including all original accessories and packaging.
  • The device must not have any physical damage, water damage, or signs of tampering.

Returns for Defective Devices

  • If your device is defective, you have the right to return, replace, or repair within 6 months of purchase, as per the CPA.
  • Defective devices will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

2. Return Process

  • To initiate a return, please contact our customer support team at support@webuyphones.co.za or call us at +27 62 002 5528.
  • Our customer support team will guide you through the return process and provide you with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number.
  • For non-defective returns, the customer is responsible for shipping the device back to us. We recommend using a traceable shipping method and securing the package adequately.
  • For defective devices, we will arrange collection at our expense.
  • The return shipping address will be provided to you along with the RMA number.

3. Refund Process

  • Once we receive the returned device, our team will inspect it to ensure it meets the eligibility criteria stated above.
  • If the device passes our inspection, we will initiate the refund process within 5 business days.
  • Refunds will be processed within 15 business days, as per CPA requirements.
  • Refunds will be issued using the same payment method used for the original transaction.

Restocking Fee

  • A 10% restocking fee may be applied to non-defective returns to cover the costs of inspection and repackaging.
  • No restocking fee will be applied to returns of defective devices or in cases where the product doesn't match the description provided at the time of sale.

4. Defective Goods

Defective goods generally refer to items that have a factory fault. This means the defect was present when the item left the manufacturer and is not due to damage caused by the user or normal wear and tear.

What Constitutes Defective Goods?

  • They fail to function as intended due to a manufacturing error
  • They have a flaw that affects their usability or safety
  • They do not meet the standards set by the manufacturer or required by law

Problems arising from misuse, accidental damage, or normal wear and tear are not considered factory faults and may not be covered under this policy.

5. Customer's Responsibility

  • For non-defective returns, the customer is responsible for the return shipping costs.
  • It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the device is adequately packaged to prevent damage during transit.
  • WeBuyPhones is not responsible for any devices lost or damaged during the return shipping process for non-defective returns.

6. Exceptions and Special Circumstances

  • This return and refund policy does not apply to devices that were clearly identified and sold as non-returnable or "as is" at the time of purchase.
  • For items purchased through direct marketing channels, customers have the right to return the item within 5 business days, as per the CPA.
